Dad Offers Wisdom

Tonight at the dinner table Lily got upset about something she wanted and whined and threw her fork and spoon down on the table.  Kevin tried to copy her and show her how ridiculous her reaction was and asked her to keep up the whining in hopes to take the fun out of it for her.  He said, "let's do it again. Come on throw that spoon again." She looked at him funny at first and then picked up her spoon and threw it again.  Kevin proceeded to say, " well thank you for the spoon. ". She started to laugh and said, " well thank you for the hot dogs."  We couldn't help but all laugh at this point.  Well, the idea of asking her to keep up the whining to ruin its fun stopped the whining, but not in any way we expected.  She made it through dinner without further problems, but not sure if she learned anything.  She is becoming quite the little jokester these days.  But oh the whining must stop somehow.

Fun phrases

Lately Lily has been asking "what you say"  all the time.  Even if she knows exactly what you said, she says it over and over again just to be funny.  Kevin reminded me today of funny things Kaelyn would say too like "I ok" when she would fall down while wrestling daddy.  Oh we love these little things.  Precious girls.

Baby Teeth

Today Kaelyn was outside after school trying to set up her bird feeder.  She had taken my new bag of bird seed outside and ripped it open with her teeth. She came running inside super excited, "Mom, I opened the bag of seed and my tooth is SUPER LOOSE."  It took me a minute to put the pieces together and then I asked to wiggle the tooth.  All the while she was screeching with excitement.  "I am going to finally get a hole in my mouth.  I am the only one in my school that hasn't lost a tooth. I will get to put my name on the big tooth at school." Screech screech with excitement.   I wiggled the tooth and it is way loose now.  I was thinking thank goodness it won't have to get pulled.  She is now wiggling it with her tongue and top teeth and is so excited.  She next asked for paper towel so she could pull it out.  I was amazed that she was going to be so brave.  She tried and there was blood on her paper towel.  I figured she would freak out about it, but it just made her more excited.  Amazing!!  Well, she didn't get it out, but then asked if I would try.  I gave it a good try, but with the tooth that is half way in behind it, it was very tricky to get ahold of.  Daddy tried and his big fingers couldn't grab it.  She mentioned tying string around it and slamming the door, but Kevin told her that we should just work on wiggling it some more for a couple of days first. Probably a good idea.
She told Lily that the tooth fairy was going to come and might bring her money or a prize, maybe even $100.  Oh I would like to find that tooth fairy.

Snowy Spring

Spring is upon us and has brought lots of new things to the Germann house.  The snow keeps coming with breaks of nice weather.  Hoping very much that the weather warms up some soon.  We are ready to just be outside.

Kaelyn is enjoying kindergarten and is becoming a pretty good reader.  She can get through most level I readers at this point with a little help here and there and has gained a joy of reading at this point.  She is proud of herself when she accomplishes a book now instead of dreading having to get through it.  She also got her first wiggly teeth on the bottom, but they aren't coroporating.  A few weeks ago she came to me and sad she felt rocks in her mouth.  I looked in her mouth and saw the 2 new front teeth coming in behind her baby teeth.  Pretty cute observation I must say.  Gammy says if they come in much more without her baby teeth becoming more wiggly, then she may need help getting them out.  Poor girl, hoping that won't have to happen.  The tooth fairy will have to be very generous if that is the case.  Kaelyn has also really been enjoying math.  We have a Disney math workbook that she has been devouring when she is looking for something to do.  Who is going to deny her the chance to work on math.  She is also getting better at watching out for her sister and taking care of her.  Being a big sister is a hard job, but she is figuring it out and her heart is growing bigger.  The other day when Kevin and I got back from a trip and picked up the girls, Kaelyn asked us how our trip went and wanted us to tell her all about it.  She was trying to start a nice conversation.  It was precious.

Lily is growing fast and becoming quite her own little personality.  She has such a sweetness about her and loves to take care of other people and serve them and give them things.  She has become quite a daddy's girl as well which Kevin and I both enjoy.  She has her moments though of screaming when she doesn't get her way and still wakes up crying a lot in the night.  Hoping it won't be much longer before she realizes that her crying doesn't get her anything.  Her words for the most part are becoming more caring and she asks for things with much nicer manners these days.  She almost can read all of the numbers to 10, writes her name, and is learning how to read.  She wants to know just what sissy is learning.

Both girls love playing together.  They get on each other's nerves here and there, but for the most part, they can play for hours together.  Lily is getting better at presenting her own ideas and Kaelyn is getting better at letting Lily have some ideas.  They are becoming beautiful little girls.

Kevin and I have been plugging away at many things.  We are preparing a big move to Bozeman, Montana by August and there is lots to get in order.  I have been packing boxes and he has been figuring out ways to finish up details on the house so we can rent and or sale it.  Kevin is also in the middle of a busy track season and has a couple of kids he is really excited about training.  The PE school year is getting wrapped up as well with timed mile runs (if the weather will permit), field days, swimming, and just all the last minute school stuff. I have been trying my best to take it easy and grow these precious babies.  The chaos of the first trimester is over and I have finally gotten to enjoy being pregnant.  Carrying twins is a whole new ball game.  Baby A has a CPAM (congenital pulmonary adenamatoid malformation) so we are looking at surgery within a few weeks after she is born, but should't have any last consequences.  We are just praying it goes away on its own though.  Because of this, it is very important that I make it as far as I can, so she is as healthy as can be when born.  The mass should hopefully appear much smaller than it looks now, proportionally, by the time she is 38 weeks.  We will be delivering in Denver though just to be on the safe side.  A hard decision because I trust my Doctor here so much, but easy in that we want what is best with our babies.

Speaking of these cute baby girls, they are growing perfectly, weighing in at 1 lb 8 oz each as of 4 days ago. We are getting super excited about having our twins.  Things are falling into place and getting ready.  Most of the nursery stuff is all put together and sewn and we have gotten ahold of most of the extra things we need for 2 little ones at once.  My belly is getting huge, but that is fun too.  Kaelyn and Lily are starting to get very excited as well.  Babies are sitting one on top of the other right now.  They look so very uncomfortable, but somehow, they will make it just fine.  Amazing how twins can grow in utero.

Well, that is all from snowy Gillette for now.

Precious Girl Funnies

Have to share a few funnies from the last few days.  The other day the girls, who were supposed to be sleeping, came trapesing up the stairs.  Kaelyn said, "I need to floss my teeth."  Well we let her, and not a moment later here came Lily.  We asked her why she was out of her bed.  She ran over to Kaelyn and in her crying voice said, "I have to tooth my tooth!!!"  Oh the words of a tired frustrated 3 year old.  We just started cracking up.

This one has to be prefaced.  About a week ago we watched this cute video on facebook called "I'm a Daddy and I know it".  It was a cute video about a very capable dad and 3 kids.  Well, yesterday, Kaelyn and Kevin were headed into Walmart to refill water jugs.  Kevin had asked Kaelyn if she wanted to carry one in.  She said no and so Kevin carried them both.  He said to Kaelyn, "look, I can carry them both in one hand."  Kaelyn looks at him with a happy grin and says, "Your a daddy and you know it."  He loved it.

The Beauty Continues

Wow, since I last wrote a post so much has occurred.  I have been super exhausted!!!  Well, we found out were are having twins!!!  Praise God!!  That has been our hope and prayer since before we were married that we would have twins.  They had beautiful heartbeats and have been growing well.  I have had some nausea here and there, but nothing like with either of my other 2, so once again another answer to prayer.  At 10 weeks, Christmas Eve, I started bleeding a bit and had to go on bed rest immediately.  In some ways it was nice because that meant I got to sleep Christmas Eve instead of work, and therefore enjoy Christmas Day with my family, but it was also very nerve wracking.  I was glad to be at work because I could ultrasound myself and saw 2 beautiful heartbeats and babies still.

We had a doctors appointment the following morning before heading off to Bozeman to meet up with my family.  Everything looked good and I got the go ahead to travel but to stay on bed rest after I got there.  My parents were already there and it was great to see them.  The rest of the crew got all held up with planes and snow and neither Micah and Kelly, nor Christin and the gang made it the following day.  We just rested and got prepared and Papa and Kevin took the girls sledding and had a great time.

The following day Kevin headed off to pick people up at the airport in Billings and my mom and dad went grocery shopping.  While they were gone, I had a major incident of bleeding and had to have them rush back to take me to the ER.  Off my dad and I went to check out yet another hospital for the year.  They  found that I had a subchorionic hematoma that had hemorrhaged.   Babies still looked fabulous, but they were at risk for being miscarried due to the giant blood clot that could push their placentas out of the way.  I went back home and didn't move from the couch.  Once again I was a nervous wreck.  But clinging to the promise of a beautiful picture, I kept hoping.

The family all arrived that day thankfully and we had lots of fun just being together and playing games.  Everyone went sledding and skiing and the men and Kelly all went snowmobiling.  They all had a blast.  Our precious renters had set up a decorating station to decorate the Christmas tree with homemade ornaments made out of oranges and gingerbread and candy canes.  It was so precious. We are so blessed with our friends living in our house.  The trip ended too soon, but I got to bring my mom back home with me to help take care of my family while on bed rest.

I had to make another trip to the ER after a war zone scene occurred to make sure my body was ok.  The blood clot had doubled in size at this time.  No fun.  I was weak and pale and nervous.  It was good that 2 days later I was heading home.

So now, back at home we are, and getting things back into the "normal" routine.  Kaelyn and Kevin are back at school and I am feeling a lot better so enjoying my days on bed rest a bit more.  It has been a huge blessing having my mom here and life is continuing in a pretty normal fashion.  Kevin has taken up roles so graciously and is caring for us all very well.  So very thankful for a wonderful husband.  Babies continue to look fabulous and we are now at 11 weeks and 5 days.  The clot is not growing and hopefully will show shrinkage in the next few weeks.  Until it is gone, I will be resting.  I am finding lots of ways to enjoy the time though.  Being crafty and getting my homework for work done.  Thank You God for continuing to provide so much for us and for giving us hope.
