Cute words

I am going to have to add to this post as I remember things, but I had to get it started.  Funny things Lily says:

Merdade - Mermaid

She asks why about everything and when you tell her why she asks why again and she asks why about things that don't make any sense to ask why about

"can I sleep in mommy's bed"  Mom "no" Lily, "can I sleep in daddy's bed" Mom, "um no"

Wily - Lily
Wes - yes

More to come

A New Hair Do for a 5 year old

Today was an eventful afternoon that must be recorded in the log book of Kaelyn's history.  While I was making a very important phone call to dispute charges on my AT&T phone bill, my beautiful 5 year old daughter decides to come sport her beautiful new do to me.  She comes up and speaks not a word but cups her hair in her hands and smiles and poses as if to say, "don't you love it mom".  At first glance I just saw her and at second glance I saw the hair.  I looked at her and said, "you are in big trouble, I will have a word with you when I get off the phone."  God was so good to have me on the phone at the time because I was fuming inside, but it gave me a moment to regain my composure.  I wasn't so upset about the hair as I was about the fact that this is the 3rd hair cutting incident in her record book.  After I spoke those words she gave me the biggest puppy dog face and the tears started to roll.  Oh I don't know how she does it, but if softened me a bit, but I didn't let that show.
When I got off of the phone I told her that I didn't know what to say and that she would have to go to her room while I call daddy to see what he wanted me to do.  She hung her head and disappeared.  When I called Kevin, he just laughed.  He came up with a good idea though which was great because I was not thinking straight.  Kaelyn and Lily were supposed to go to a carnival at Kevin's school tomorrow with Grandpa and Gammy while I am at work and Kevin is at a banquet for track.  He decided that Kaelyn would get to come to the banquet and sit while Lily got to go to the carnival.
Well I called her upstairs to chat and was as calm as could be at this point.  First I asked her why she cut her hair.  She said she wanted to be like Rapunzel at the end of the movie when she cut her hair off.  I also asked what she thought I was going to think of the idea.  She said she thought I would love it.  I am sure that was pure honesty because of the way she came to model it for me right after she did it.  Oh dear, the mind of a 5 year old.  It appears that she wasn't doing it to spite anyone or just because.  She had a fantastic idea and she was going for it!!!!  When I told her very kindly what the plan was, she fell apart.  She was so very sad and tried to change my mind saying that she wouldn't cut her hair again until she was 10 years old so it could grow.  I gave her a big hug and said I was so sorry that she had made that choice, she calmed down and said, "ok".  It was perfect.  I didn't have to look like the bad guy just the barer of the news.  Oh so hoping that this will be the end of the hair cutting escapades.  At least she did a good job with the hair.
